I am J. Will, a documentary filmmaker based in Washington DC. For over a decade I have been studying the craft of visual storytelling. How you turn a real person's real experience into something that moves people who were never in the room.
Every project gets the same treatment. Deep pre production to understand the story before we film anything. Intentional color grading. Sound designed from the ground up. Editing that puts story before everything else.
The DMV is home. Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia are where I built the studio and where most of my local clients are. But my work is not bound by a zip code. When the right story is in New York, I travel to New York. When it is in Los Angeles, Tokyo, or anywhere else, the camera goes there too.
I make documentary films about entrepreneurs and founders. The builders. The self made. The ones who created something from nothing. And there are more of these stories than most people will ever realize.
